VECTORIZATION IN PROMOTIONAL PRODUCTS

What is the vectorized format?

To remember: The advantage of a vectorized file is that it can be enlarged ad infinitum without ever losing quality.

There are two formats for a logo/image. The raster format (jpef, png, psd) and the vector format (ai, eps, pdf, svg). A vector format (i.e. a vectorized file) can be enlarged (zoomed) forever without ever losing quality or becoming pixelated. Unlike a raster (pixelated) logo, which has its limitations, it will be pixelated and blurred when enlarged. Vector format is highly recommended for files going to print, especially for high-definition or large-format printing.

NB: if your file is not vectorized, but is of a suitable size, has a clean quality and does not need to be enlarged, then it can be used for printing a project.

Tip: If you're sending an image or logo for printing on a product, it needs to be in CMYK (color mode) and 300 dpi (resolution).

How do I know if my file is in vector format?

If your logo or file was created using software such as Word or Power Point, then it's certain that it's not vectorized. Note that a file simply saved as an ai, eps or pdf file is not necessarily vectorized. The easiest way to check is to enlarge it and see if it pixelates.

Note: To be vectorized, logos and other visuals must be created in Illustrator.

How do I create a vectorized file?

To vectorize a logo made up of text and illustrations, they must first be created using suitable software.

There aretwo steps to creating vectorized text:
Step 1: In Illustrator, write the text to be vectorized (choose the typeface, etc.)

Step 2: Select the text, then in "Text" click on "Vectorize".

And there you have it!

Note that a shape created in Illustrator is automatically vectorized, as in this cloud. To see that these elements are vectorized, you can see that the lines around them are blue, with small square dots around each corner and rounding off the text and image.

PANTONE COLOR FOR ADVERTISING OBJECTS

How does the pantone color system work?

Pantone colors are like the universal language of color. There are thousands of shades of color identified by Pantone codes (e.g. 2455C). Thousands of colors that are not possible in CMYK. It's a paying system used by printers to ensure total color accuracy. A file, sent by e-mail, is not always represented in the same way on screens and in print, so it's in this situation that we recommend using Pantone color, to be as accurate as possible.

Note:

- The CMYK colorimetric mode used for printing.
- The RGB colorimetric mode used for the web.
