Goodies in plastic, it's possible!

- Categories : Eco-responsible goodies

How can you tell the difference between good and bad plastic when designing your goodies?

80% of the plastic we manufacture can be reused in our recycling garbage cans! Plastic doesn't have to be harmful to the environment. It's simply necessary to sort through them. The aim is to limit the production of plastic, which generates CO2 emissions & a significant use of resources during manufacture, as well as reducing the amount of plastic waste ending up in natural spaces. On average, recycled plastic generates 45% less CO2, 94% less water & 42% less energy than conventional plastic.

PET Polyethylene terephthalate

PET plastic is fully recyclable and loses very little of its characteristics during recycling, so it can be reused several times. PET is generally used to make bottles. When it is recycled, it is known as RPET (Recycled PET). We offer a range of promotional products made from RPET, such as bags and lightweight, modular objects.

HDPE High-density polyethylene

HDPE plastic is opaque, tough & waterproof. It is typically used in the food, medical and chemical sectors, for the manufacture of tanks, packaging, etc. It can also be recycled in suitable garbage cans. This material is not widely used in promotional gifts.

PVC Polyvinyl chloride

PVC plastic is mainly used in industrial applications, such as sewer pipes, floor coverings and window frames. This material can only be recycled on an industrial scale, which isn't particularly inconvenient as it's not the most widely used plastic. This product is also rarely used for promotional purposes.

LDPE Low Density Polyethylene

LDPE plastic is flexible, impact-resistant and waterproof. It's one of the most environmentally damaging materials, because it's the most common plastic & it can't be recycled in our recycling garbage cans. This plastic is used for garbage can liners and supermarket bags, for example. In the manufacture of goodies, this material is sometimes used to protect each individual goodie. We urge our customers to avoid individual packaging whenever possible, or prefer a kraft bag to protect the promotional item if necessary.

PP PolyPropylene

PP plastic is used in the automotive and food industries, for yoghurt pots, for example. It has recently been included in the yellow bin in areas where the extension of sorting instructions has been applied (depending on the town...). This plastic is often used to make water bottles for promotional purposes.

PS Expanded polystyrene

PS is a hard, brittle plastic. It's a widely used, non-recyclable plastic. This plastic is very often used to wedge a product in its packaging. Whenever possible, we suggest replacing PS with cardboard for the cushioning of your goodies for a more eco-designed communication.
